Schwalbe's Ass

Schwalbe’s Ass brings to Sieberthof a family history closely associated with Trakehner breeding at Hämelschenburg. The bay mare was born on 29 March 2017. Her sire is High Motion; her dam is the state premium, studbook premium and elite mare Schwalbenlicht by Imperio. Through Exclusiv and Enrico Caruso, her dam line continues into family O35A1a Schwarze Schwalbe.

Her own place in breeding

Schwalbe’s Ass scored 54.5 points at registration, earning premium candidate status. Her marks were 8.0 – 8.0 – 6.5 – 8.0 – 8.5 – 7.5 – 8.0; she stands 167 centimetres. Her own grading results are an important part of her broodmare profile, alongside the performances of her relatives.

Her close relatives are particularly interesting: Schwalbe’s Ass is the full sister of Special Motion, who was licensed in 2018 and named the best jumping stallion of that Trakehner licensing crop. The same combination of High Motion and Schwalbenlicht therefore produced a licensed stallion whose talent extended beyond the dressage arena.

Family figures and achievements

• Schwalbe’s Ass: 54.5 mare registration points and premium candidate status.
• Sire High Motion: winner of the 2017 stallion performance test with 8.84.
• Sire High Motion: international Prix St Georges win in Achleiten in 2022 and Intermédiaire II win in Essen-Herbergen in 2023.
• Full brother Special Motion: licensed in 2018 and named best jumping stallion.
• Half-sister Schwalbenland: winner of the 2020 mare performance test at Uslar.
• Dam Schwalbenlicht: awarded Trakehner Verband elite status in 2025.

Two sides of a performance-proven pedigree

High Motion is by Saint Cyr out of elite mare Hanna by Summertime. In addition to his young horse successes, his development with Laura Strobel took him into advanced dressage. His test results and later competition record provide clear evidence of performance in her sire line.

On the dam side, Imperio adds another international Grand Prix stallion. Schwalbenlicht was registered with 56 points, completed her mare performance test and received state and studbook premiums. Elite status followed her offspring's achievements. These include licensed Special Motion, performance-tested daughters Schwalbenland and Schwalbe’s Beauty, and Saltazio, successful in young dressage horse classes.

Schwarze Schwalbe: a family with lasting influence

Through Schwalbenlicht, the direct dam line leads to Schwalbenspiel by Exclusiv and Schwalbenlust by Enrico Caruso. Stallions from this branch include Songline, Saint Cyr and Shavalou. Songline attracted attention as licensing champion, Bundeschampion and successful eventer. Showmaster and Schwadroneur also belong to the wider family background.

We find this combination of close, documented relatives and a carefully maintained mare family particularly appealing for breeding. Each foal adds a new chapter to its story here.

Offspring at Sieberthof

• 2022: Sturmschwalbe, filly by Ivanhoe.
• 2024: S.W.A.T., colt by Kenneth.
• 2026: Schwalbenpower SH, filly by V-Power.

These three crops represent Schwalbe’s Ass's own breeding story at Sieberthof. We follow their development with particular interest as the next generation of a family that has already produced many different sport horses.
