Nachtsonne

A mare family with character and history

Nachtsonne combines the classic Trakehner breeding of Gut Elmarshausen with a strong performance record of her own. The bay daughter of Interconti is out of Nachtlicht by Elitär. Her dam line includes Nachtlicht, Nabraska and Nakita: three successive generations of mares that topped their groups at central mare gradings. This continuity makes her dam line particularly interesting for breeding.

Nachtsonne came to Sieberthof following a change in her former owner's family circumstances. Here we value her friendly nature, Trakehner type and rhythmic, elastic movement. Her story extends well beyond a list of famous stallions: her immediate female ancestors have earned attention and recognition over several generations.

Award-winning and performance-tested

At the Central Mare Registration in Alsfeld in 2017, Nachtsonne topped the four-year-old and older mare division. That year she also received the Trakehner studbook premium. She completed her mare performance test in Fritzlar with an overall score of 7.76. Her movement and loose jumping were assessed in the 8.0 to 8.5 range.

Placings in L-level young dressage horse classes followed. In addition to her premium, Nachtsonne therefore has experience in training and competition. Her own results complement the achievements of her relatives.

Sire Interconti

Interconti brings together two influential Trakehner lines through Consul and Mahagoni. The premium stallion was born in 2000 and was closely associated with Gut Elmarshausen. The stud records five licensed sons and highlights his contribution to type and versatility.

His sons include Zauberfürst, Contis and Herbstkönig. Zauberfürst won silver in the three-year-old stallion division at the 2007 Bundeschampionat in Warendorf and later competed successfully in advanced dressage. These results show the performance of Interconti's offspring alongside Nachtsonne's own test record.

Three generations of outstanding dams

Nachtsonne's dam Nachtlicht by Elitär was champion mare at the central registration in Hesse in 2009 and completed her performance test with 8.07. Through Arogno, Elitär adds another traditional Trakehner connection to the pedigree.

Granddam Nabraska by Tambour won the central mare registration in Hesse in 2004. She produced four premium mares, including full sisters Nachtlicht and Narnia. Great-granddam Nakita by Giorgio Armani topped the Westphalian registration in 1993 and took part in the Trakehner National Mare Show in 1994.

The family is designated T14C1 Nawarra and has close ties to Birkhausen Stud. The line was bred at several established studs before reaching Elmarshausen and, eventually, Sieberthof. Here Nachtsonne represents a mare line whose value is demonstrated by a consistent succession of outstanding dams.
